Synchronizer Ring
The synchronizer ring, together with the friction cone of the gear wheel, form a “conical clutch” which can be engaged and disengaged through sliding. The inside surface of the synchronizer ring has threads or groove patterns, in order to prevent the forming of any hydrodynamic oil film.
