A clothing fabric that is tightly woven in a plain weave with a crosswise rib. Similar to poplin, but finer. Earlier broadcloth used to be made of wool but nowadays it is made of cotton or cotton/polyester blends. A heavy rich and decorative textured fabric woven with different colours of silk /cotton/polyester threads along with metallic thread.
